Thermoprints & silver gelatin prints
A collaboration between Anna Vandecasteele and Erien Withouck. Starting from Anna’s images, which are seemingly in a state of transition between dark and light, between being and becoming, they attempted to explore this state in other ways of presentation. The focal point is the idea of the disappearing landscape. We see this in the thermally printed images which fade as they are exposed to UV light, and the postcards faded by the Sahara sun. Photography gives us the illusion we can possess these landscapes, by making them disappear they attempt to break this illusion of control.
